The Albee Agency – An Equal Opportunity Book Publicity Agency
Once considered the black sheep of publishing, self publishing is now the mainstream. No longer deemed amateurish or unglamorous, writers who have even been published by traditional publishers are choosing self- publishing. Why? Control and profitability! Whether you term it indie publishing, self-publishing, print-on-demand, or e-book publishing, the fact is that authors today have more options than ever!
As Mike Albee says, “we are at the forefront of a paradigm shift in publishing. As more readers look for their books online, so must we as publicists adopt our strategies to accommodate them”. That being said, there is still nothing better in most author’s eyes than an interview on the Today Show, so we do both – digital and traditional book marketing.”

Our Customized Yet Consistent Campaigns
Although we create a custom campaign for each of our authors, they all share some similarities.
We start by developing a press kit for use in our media outreach. Your press kit will contain your press releases, media alerts, author bio, headshots, and pre-written articles and reviews.
The first phase of all of our publicity campaigns involves contacting our extensive database of independent reviewers (over 20,000 strong). With these reviews in hand, we then contact the mainstream media who almost all request to see your reviews as they begin to research your work. These reviews will be the backbone for all our future publicity efforts…
The next phase is our local media outreach. We focus on your local television, radio, print, and internet media and generate interest in the local author angle. This may also include book signing events in your hometown.
From there we reach out to your statewide media, then onto the nationwide media venues like the major television networks, nationwide newspapers, and magazines.
The final phase of your campaign is directed to the international press – our media contacts span the world, and with so many authors now retaining their international rights, we reach out to the mainstream international journalist for reviews and feature stories.
Timeframe
Although every campaign is different, our typical campaign lasts two to three months. While our competitors will try to bind you into a 3 or 6 month contract, we do not! Our agreements are month to month. This offers you the flexibility as the campaign goes forward…to adjust your strategy as needed without being encumbered with a long term contract. This also means you can cancel the contract at anytime.
The Transparent and The Personal Approach to Book Publicity
The Albee Agency is dedicated to being the writer’s partner. With so many new websites with self-publishing tools it is easy to forget that the human factor in publicity is paramount to a successful campaign. In that pursuit we have added a new element to our publicity campaigns- the organizing software- Basecamp.com.
From now on, every writer will be given free access to their marketing campaign strategy; documents, press kits, etc. Each site has task lists, progress reports and in-house discussions. Now we will be collaborating with you the writer…You can ask questions….post suggestions… anytime! A great and innovative way for all of us to stay organized and connected.
